Throughout the world the garment industry is a labor intensive
industry, dependent on the skillful labor of the workers.
Being a Vietnamese-owned and managed company, we are
particularly interested in the well-being and livelihood of
our fellow citizens who work for us. Our aim in Social
Responsibility is not to just adhere to local labor laws, but
to actively work at improving the lives and working conditions
of our employees. So that we remain focused on this we have
MHG’s “4 P’s”; four principles that guide us towards a
better living and working environment.
MHG’s
4 P’s:
Promote
the rights of all employees:
MHG
We not only adhere to labor laws, but ensure that all new and
existing employees are made aware of their rights, at work and
in society
Place of Work:
We
spend a large part of our active time at our place of work.
Therefore we strive to make the place of work, not only safe
and healthy, but also to a happy environment to be in.
Discrimination and intimidation of any form are not tolerated
and all employees are encouraged to report any action against
them that they feel is unfair and discriminatory.
Personal Health:
We promote healthy
living for our employees. Not only in improving the physical
aspects of the working environment, but even down to promoting
a healthy and nutritious diet in our canteen and ensuring that
every worker gets sufficient rest during the working day.
Protect the Environment:
Vietnam is a beautiful
country, with a relatively unspoiled environment. We want to
maintain this for future generations. To ensure this, the
environmental impact of every project is analyzed so that we
can minimize the impact it has on the environment.
In order to promote social responsibility in our organization,
we have adopted a policy of inclusion. To manage and promote
social responsibility, we include, as much as possible,
individuals from the factory floor in the decision making
process. Our Health and Safety Committee; the main body that
oversees social responsibility police within MHG comprises
mostly of non-management staff and this encourages the
employees to voice their opinions and also to feel included in
the well-being of the company. Furthermore, we look to
international standards for guidance when setting policy, thus
becoming more progressive than necessary.
